Ok I took the plunge and went with the 290x instead of the 970. The 970 has to much shit going on with it and the only bad thing I can find on the 290x is that it is power hungry.
So this is my purchase:
XFX Black Edition Double D R9 290X 1050MHz 4GB DDR5 DP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9290XEDBD
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HR3G1EW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80PLUS Platinum Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 1000W Power Supply (220-P2-1000-XR)
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EKJQM5E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So the PSU will solve any potential power issues, as this is a highly rated platinum PSU with a 10 year warranty, so no worries when it comes to power.
My second monitor gave up the ghost this morning after about 7 years it was a very sad sight. I will bury it in the back yard with honor. To replace it I purchaed another Samsung b2430 24 in LCD to match my other monitor.
Samsung B2430HD 24-Inch WideScreen LCD Monitor
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040B81NI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also got this dual monitor stand to cleanup my desk area.
Tyke Supply Dual LCD Monitor Stand desk clamp holds up to 24" lcd monitors
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002R9HQLI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The final item I purchased is another 140mm fan to add to my Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Below is a link to the cooler I'm using now. It already has 2 140mm fans and I'm adding a third for shits and giggles. I contacted Phanteks and they are sending me a third mounting kit for free, great company to work with.

Well I'm super excited to get all this new hardware and hopefully no DOA parts. Wish me luck and hope to see you on track soon with my new equipment.
